HELL FUCKING NO. Racism is not okay.

So my roommate, Saad, was wrongfully arrested last week. The Denton Police Department were waiting for him when he came out of one of his classes, and after looking at his ID they arrested him in front of all his classmates and professors.

When the finally got the station they realized they had nothing on him and let him go.

Saad was racially profiled; he had done nothing wrong and was arrested for no reason. He has always been the most peaceful, non confrontational person ever, and I cannot believe this happened.

Worse, tomorrow he’s moving out of the country, to Jordan, because his classmates treat him like a criminal or terrorist. He’s pissed off at the university but he doesn’t want to cause more conflict.

I however, believe that he definitely deserves an apology, whether it causes a little conflict or not. He shouldn’t have to leave because everyone treats him differently. He shouldn’t have to withdraw from his classes and leave the country. He shouldn’t have to do anything but feel indignant that something so awful could happen.

I want him to file a racial profiling complaint against the Denton Police Department, but I don’t think he will. Again, he is one of the most non-confrontational guys I’ve ever met, and I don’t think he wants to end his stay in the US with a complaint. 

But I think it needs to happen. The officers who did this shouldn’t be allowed to go unpunished. He deserves a formal apology, and I am going to try to get him one.

I hope I have y’all’s support on this. Spread the word guys, this shouldn’t be overlooked.
